Yes, all the rights are in. All the artists confirmed.
The ducks are all in a row.
Here is what's happening in a very special week in September.
Music starts at 7pm, the film starts at 8pm every night.
(Also, in the very unlikely situation that it's raining, we'll move indoors)
On the balcony of the Waterfront (overlooking the sea)
Here we've got a full bar, with bar menu (fish & chips etc) delivered to your seat.
Tuesday 12th September Paul Messenger opens up the festival with another stunning set. He went down an absolute storm before Jaws last year. Delighted to have him back.
Wednesday 13th September Matt Brooks is playing his guitar tunes tonight. He plays loads of tunes you know in a laid back, chilled way. One of my favourite acts on the local circuit.
Juno It's not a film that's often shown on the outdoor cinema circuit, but it's an absolute corker. Stunningly shot, with an amazing soundtrack (listen to it on Spotify right now. Click here. Do. It's brilliant.) On the balcony of the Waterfront, this is going to be a real treat.
In the garden of the Umbrella Centre
We've got the whole Film Club experience here, so the team from the Umbrella Cafe will be making cocktails, selling pizza and making sure there's plenty of popcorn.
Thursday 14th September Ross Power and Abi Gilchrist are The Soul Bubble. We've got a different class of music tonight. IN recent months, these two have played Camp Bestival, Ronan Keating's birthday party and the Royal Festival Hall. Sheer class. Don't miss them.
The Princess Bride I'm in trouble for this one. Another film screening team in Whitstable were planning a big screening. I have had to fight to screen it. But. Oh boy, is it worth it. That rare thing, it's every bit as good now as it was when it came out 30 years ago. It works just as well as an adult as it did as a child. It's magical in every way.
Friday 15th September Beth George One woman and her keyboard. It's not a complicated formula. But it is absolutely brilliant. She plays a mix of covers and her own material. To be honest with you, I wouldn't let most people play their own stuff. Give people songs they know, right? But. Beth writes songs that are instantly familiar and lovely. She's ace.
The Big Lebowski Could this be the best film of all time? It tops loads of lists. But, it doesn't really matter. It's perfect from start to finish.
OK. So that's it. I am incredibly proud of the line up this year. It's all been a little last minute, but, here we are. 2 great venues. 4 incredible films. 4 wonderful music acts. 500 tickets. Make sure you buy one - we're going to have 4 very special nights.
